Team Hunky Dorys and the Women’s Mini Marathon 2008

 

 

Avril will be running the Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin on June 2nd for Pieta House.  Pieta House, the Centre for the Prevention of Self-Harm or Suicide, opened its doors in January 2006 and is the first charity of its kind in Ireland. Pieta House offers a specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal ideation or who participate in self-harming behaviours. In particular, this centre targets the people who have already attempted to take their lives, the forgotten people. This service is free of charge.  The specialized treatment programme offers a comprehensive service aimed at individuals and their families who are affected by, Multiple suicidal attempts, Suicidal ideation and/or Continuous self-harming behaviours.  This is a 10K race which we believe everyone can finish by walking or running.  There is no pressure to run this race, so please do not let this deter you.  If you have any questions about training you can email any of the team for advice. 

To be part of this amazing event, there are just a few small simple steps: 

1.  Enter online by going to the official website: Women’s Mini Marathon

(Every participant must enter online or through the entry forms on the Evening    Herald, whether running for charity or not.) 

2.  Once you have entered online, please then email Avril: avrilcopel@gmail.com and let her know that you have officially  entered.  Avril will then send you a Pieta House sponsorship card.  We are aiming to raise upwards of 5000 Euro, so all sponsorship is greatly appreciated.  We are asking everyone to aim for 100 Euro in sponsorship. 

3.  Arrive on the day, June 2nd, ready to have one of the best experiences of your life!
